Give me your hands, if we be friends...

So... here begins yet another journey.

Back in my Shakespeare comfort zone, I am prepping for the next venture - A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM, with Springfield StageWorks.

Now that STREETCAR is truly behind me, I am starting the conceptual work on MIDSUMMER.  Already,  I have been receiving audition inquiries and questions, so will be addressing those in this blog in the near future.  This will be a place I will plant clues, ideas, inspirations, tips, everything I am looking for about the show... my concept ... my casting criteria... Keep an eye out for all of this in the coming months!

I encourage all interested auditionees to contact me directly with questions.  Please e-mail me at:
Lisalhw@att.net

For now, though, you will have to be content with the basic Audition information:

OPEN AUDITIONS

  • The Facts
    • DATE:   Monday, January 30  &  Tuesday, January 31
    • TIME:  7:00pm
    • WHERE:   The State Theatre, Springfield, OH
    • RECOMENDATION:  Attend the Monday Audition, as I will have more chance to see your work and you will have more chance to read.  The second half of Tuesday's session, will be taken up with Callbacks.  I prefer NOT to have auditionees attend both sessions unless specifically asked to do so.
  • What you Need
    • Resume and Photo (if you have one)
    • One Minute memorized monologue from ANY classic play (pre- 1750) RECOMMENDED
    • NOT REQUIRED, BUT IF You sing or have a strong dance / movement background, I definitely want to know about it!  Prepare a 45 second vocal piece to be sung a capella at auditions and / or movement piece.  More details to come.
    • Be prepared to read from the script
  • What I am Looking for
    • ACTORS:
      • Strong, leveled voices
      • Growing characterization
      • All ages and ability levels
    • SINGERS & DANCERS:
      • Some roles will require a strong movement background, as well as vocals.  For example, Fairies will need to be versed in one, or both of these.
  • Audition Format
    • Actors will be called to do monologues first, then assigned at least one scene to read
    • Many actors may be asked to read additional pieces.  Some will be released after one reading.  Early release does NOT indicate you will not be cast.
    • CALLBACKS will be held and the time is TBA.  They are likely to occur during the 2nd half of the Tuesday session, after all walk-in auditionees have been seen.  It IS BEST TO ATTEND MONDAY for your initial open audition session
